DIY-TEK Kit – Liquid Culture Lids Assembly Guide

Introduction: Salute, Patrons! You’ve just leveled up in the mycology game with our DIY-TEK Kit for crafting liquid culture lids. This guide is your magic scroll to transform those lids into mycological masterpieces. Before starting, make sure you’ve gathered all kit components and consider grabbing our heat-resistant silicone syringe (optionally available) for a slick assembly.

Materials Needed:

  • PTFE-0.22 Air Syringe Filter Port
  • Heavy-Duty (Self-Healing) Syringe Port
  • Male Luer Lock 1/8″ 3.2mm PP Hose Barb Adapter
  • 5″ Flexible and Heat-resistant Tubing
  • Female Luer Syringe
  • Heat-Resistant Silicone Syringe (Optionally Included For $1.00)
  • PP5 Mason Jar Lid (Optionally Included For $1.00)
  • Drill Bits (NOT INCLUDED)

Step 1: Begin your DIY quest by drilling the holes. Start with the 1/2″ hole for the Heavy-Duty (Self-Healing) Syringe Port, followed by a 1/4″ hole for the female luer lock in the lid’s center, and finally a 5/32″ hole for the PTFE-0.22 Air Syringe Filter Port.

Step 2: Install the Air Syringe Filter Port by inserting it into the smallest hole on the lid. Ensure it fits like a glove, and if needed, secure with a dab of heat-resistant silicone. This air filter is your shield against the dark arts of contaminants.

Step 3: Add the Injection Port by inserting the heavy-duty syringe port into the 1/2″ hole. This is your magic portal for injecting liquid culture. Apply a spell of heat-resistant silicone inside and outside the lid to secure your portal.

Step 4: Assemble the Male and Female Luer Locks by placing the male luer lock adapter into the 1/4″ hole from above, and the female luer lock from below. Make sure they fit like a charm.

Step 5: Apply Silicone and Finalize the Lid by adding a bead of heat-resistant silicone to the female luer lock before locking the two parts together. This ensures a fortress-like connection. Seal the deal with another bead of silicone inside and out, then wait for at least 2 hours before sending it to the pressure cooker or autoclave for sterilization. Pat yourself on the back, your mycological toolkit just got a major upgrade!
