Hericenones are a class of aromatic compounds found in the lion\’s mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus), specifically within its fruiting body. They are known for their ability to stimulate the synthesis of nerve growth factor (NGF) in vitro. Specifically, hericenones C, D, and E have demonstrated this stimulating effect on NGF biosynthesis.
